Supporting the next generation of nurses for Essex

Tim Farron, Monday, confirmed that the Party would reinstate student bursaries, which benefit nursing, midwifery and allied health students, with immediate effect. We should be supporting more people into these vital professions - but instead this Government are putting up greater barriers.

Henham and Elsenham By-Election

Thursday 16th was not a good night for the Lib Dems in losing the two seats for Elsenham and Henham they had held for over 20 years. Their valiant and very able candidates Lori Flawn and Sinead Holland would have served the two villages well had they been chosen by the voters. The Lib Dems' successful vote in 2015 slipped to 22%. It was an even worse night for the Conservatives. Their vote dropped to 10%; probably the worst ever Conservative local election result in Uttlesford.

We need more visible policing call

In advance of the visit of the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Roger Hirst, to Saffron Walden on Thursday (2nd Feb) Liberal Democrats in Uttlesford have launched a petition to bring back Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to the district, in order to improve the visibility of policing locally and to crack down on anti-social behaviour.
